Mountain Motor Pro Stock stalwart Elijah Morton has just about seen and done it all when it comes to driving big-inch , naturally aspirated doorslammers , but this incident during pre-race testing at the PDRA Brian Olson Memorial World Finals was a new one for the Swansboro , North Carolinabased businessman . The wheel studs sheared off shortly after Morton unleashed the Allen horsepower , causing all kinds of chaos to ensue . The left slick came off and out from underneath the Mustang , while the car itself slammed into the left retaining wall , breaking the wheelie bars and sending them flying over the wall . Fortunately , the photographers gathered along the wall in the same area managed to avoid contact with the shrapnel . While this entry was taken out of commission for the weekend , Morton ’ s team returned to his shop to retrieve his backup car so Morton could still attempt to qualify for the season finale .
