Sick Again

Returning winner Brett LaSala leads list of Sick Week 2025 winners By Luke Nieuwhof and Derek Putnam

Sick Week 2025 presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive once again tore up record books as the world’ s quickest street machines took on the Super Bowl of drag-and-drive. Almost 400 teams took part in this year’ s event, which began at South Georgia Motorsports Park. The five-day, 850-mile route saw teams also take on Bradenton Motorsports Park, Orlando Speed World, and Gainesville Raceway.

Reigning champion Brett LaSala was once again the star of the show, resetting his own drag-and-drive radial tire world record. His final average of 6.241 seconds, with a quickest time of 6.079, was also the second-quickest outright average in the history of drag-and-drive. Only Jeff Lutz’ s 6.191 from Hot Rod Drag Week in 2016 remains quicker.
LaSala was driving a new Ford Mustang known as Snot Rocket 3.0. Visually
similar to the 2.0 version used at last year’ s Sick Week, LaSala retained the Ford Coyote engine platform and driveline while making small improvements to the car across the board. As well as the overall win, LaSala scored the Unlimited class title.“ We planned for it, we tested for it
and we pulled it off; there’ s no better feeling than that,” LaSala said.
Several potential rivals to LaSala were struck out early in the week. Jeff Lutz broke a rod in testing while Tom Bailey crossed the center line on his only pass of day one, effectively ruling out any challenge to LaSala’ s dominance.
Second overall belonged to Devin Vanderhoof’ s’ 93 Mustang with Josh Davis behind the wheel. Following a complete revamp of the car last year, the pair came away with a 6.577 average and the Modified class victory.
Graham Hayes’’ 66 Nova claimed third overall along with the Ultimate Iron class win with an average of 6.649 seconds. Hayes swapped from a nitrous combination to turbos for this year and instantly produced his quickest ever times.
Perhaps the most impressive single
