track, but we take it seriously too. I think that’ s what brings us up to the next level. We understand drag racing and we understand why we’ re there. We’ re there to win or do the best we can.
Who is the driver you want to line up against the least?
Probably Travis Harvey. We’ ve run each other so much. We know each other too well, and he would be one that I really just don’ t really like to line up against. Me and Travis have run each other a million times and we know each other so well. We’ ve raced each other in bracket stuff, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Big Dog, Pro Nitrous, and now Pro Boost. We get out of rhythm when we run each other because we’ re thinking,“ Well, he knows how I am, so I’ m gonna be like this,” and I think it ends up messing either one of us up.
I feel like Todd Tutterow’ s kind of got my kryptonite. I haven’ t really won that much against Todd.
But those two drivers right there, I have the most respect for just
|
because we’ ve raced each other for so long.
Why do you think PDRA Pro Boost has become such a hot bed for Pro Mod racing?
I think it’ s the level of competition. You have a lot of good drivers and a lot of good teams. I think when you come into Pro Boost, you know your equipment’ s got to be on point and you’ ve got to be on point because you’ ve got to run the fastest of the fast. Everybody there has the best equipment, the best tuners, the best ability to do it. It just comes down

to the tuner and the driver. As long as you can put together a good tune to go fast, you’ ve also got to drive good. It ends up where you’ ve got to put two ends of the racetrack together. And everybody’ s equal. Anybody can win, period, at any point in time. It’ s not like somebody’ s got an advantage over it.
You have a new teammate, John Dougherty, coming into the class. How is that going to change your approach?
We’ ve got high expectations. I think he’ s got big shoes to fill being
|
in the camp with me as far as driving ability and the car wise, but I think this is something that’ ll be good for me and my sponsors, to kind of put a second car together, to be able to read the track, do what we need to do. I think he’ ll do fine. We just need to get some good weather and time to get him to the racetrack.
What’ s it going to take to keep that # 1 on the window this season?
A whole lot of luck, probably. I’ m just gonna have to do the same thing I can. I think a lot of teams are gonna really step their game up, which they did last year. The deal with the championship is you’ ve got to run good in the beginning of the year, you’ ve got to run good in the middle of the year, you’ ve got to run good at the end. You’ ve just got to be consistent. I think that’ s what’ s won me most of my championships. You’ re gonna have some fumbles. You’ re gonna have some parts failures. You’ re gonna get beat on the tree. Things are gonna happen. You’ ve just gotta try to be as consistent as possible.
