Bill and his two sons, Adam and Will, always travel together to various events.“ Fifteen years of trying, and we finally got it done!” smiles Adam, after the satisfying victory, which notched his place as the event’ s 15th original main event winner.
His day didn’ t exactly start out as planned, though, when he broke a transmission during his second time run.“ For some reason, after I broke my transmission, Dad insisted I drive his car! I told him I thought he was crazy, and reminded him that he went to the semifinals last year at this event!” says Adam. Bill was insistent in putting Adam in his car, though.“ I just wasn’ t feeling it

today, and I thought Adam would do better at driving today,” Bill surmises, in a prediction that would indeed become prophetic.
Bill’ s 1967 Camaro happened to be Adam’ s old car, so it definitely held some familiarity to both racers.“ Dad has put a different engine( a 406-cubic-inch powerplant) in it, but still, it’ s a car that’ s familiar to me,” says Adam, who’ s also an IHRA Division 9 Super Stock champion.“ When it comes to stick car racing, this is the most satisfying win of my career, because there’ s just nothing bigger than the Stick Shift Nationals!” concludes Adam.
In the second chance race, Andy Charcalla added to his Friday night gambler’ s victory with yet another win on Saturday when he got past Ohio’ s Dennis Duvall in the all-Mustang finale.
More awards were handed out on Saturday, with Colin Richardson winning the Ram Clutches Dash for Cash with a. 0010 run, and Monty Joe Bogan Jr. winning the JDI Transportation No. 2 spot while wheeling the Allison’ s Garage Corvette. Chuck Woloch drove his Kentucky-based Ford Probe to a 5.001 elapsed time to capture the Dan Englebert Memorial Low E. T. award.
Longtime track announcer and official Mark Joyce praised the entire staff for their tireless efforts as surrounding rain storms were looming all weekend.“ It was a‘ get’ er done’ attitude this weekend with the weather threatening us,” says Joyce, who also recognized Sandy Collins and Leigh Ann Flynt for their tireless efforts in leading the charge to make the Stick Shift Nationals such a continued success at Farmington.
