If he was announcing a Saturday night event at Englishtown, then Bret would get a rental car in Philadelphia and race at Atco Friday night, announce the event on Saturday, and then go to Cecil County for a Sunday event before returning the rental car and flying home. The one exception to this was when Bret raced at the World Series of Drag Racing, which he would announce Friday and Saturday, and then enter the race on Sunday, which was a 600-car marathon. In total, he raced at 72 tracks and won races 113 times as“ Mr. Dirt.”
Bret served as track manager at Dragway 42 and at the old St Louis Dragway. Bret served as announcer for NHRA, IHRA, AHRA, ADRL, and UDRA. He was a pit reporter and top-end reporter for 14 years. Bret specialized in imitations. He could do an imitation of Rickie Smith that fooled the most seasoned of fans. Bret also
