Angela is a natural organizer, and she noticed that the staging lanes needed some better structure, so she jumped in got things running smoothly.“ That was the day I lost my crew chief!” laughs David. Angela’ s responsibilities at Roxboro only grew from there, and in no time, she was managing the entire track! And since David developed a lot of timing system knowledge while at New London, his expertise in that field was transferred to Roxboro when he and Angela relocated here.
For racers and fans who haven’ t been to Roxboro in a while, the facility upgrades often come as a pleasant surprise. The spectator-side parking area had turned into a wild forest and was growing wildly out of control before Williams cleaned it all up. The bleachers were barely standing in some areas, so they were replaced with modern seating. The bottom end of the track was redone and showers were also installed in the pits. gentleman who does Raleigh Cars and Coffee, and we’ re hoping to get a car show out here this year,” says Angela.
While many improvements and additions have been made at Roxboro, the track’ s legendary Easter Bash ushers in a brand-new season each year. It remains the most successful and longest running staple at the facility.
Roxboro Motorsports Park is IHRA sanctioned, and it’ s also a member track of the Southern Bracket Racing Association. In addition to a growing bracket points program, the 2026 schedule is action-packed with many great events, and can be viewed on the track’ s website.
Among the proudest accomplishments for Angela is the formation of the Roxboro Motorsports High-Winding Gear Jammers.“ It was David’ s idea, and I just ran with it!” beams Angela, adding,“ I got to take a group of them to the IHRA Nitro Finals at GALOT last year!” For those who enjoy high-winding, straight-drive drag cars, the group gathers on the second Saturday of every month during racing season at Roxboro, and they even have their own Facebook page.
Angela is quick to praise the track staff and their dedication to keep this track going.“ Each member of our staff works somewhere else during the week and they come here and work hard on weekends to keep this track open, and I appreciate their efforts very much,” she concludes. DI
