Stevens and Taylor were scheduled to make a full quarter-mile attempt on the last day of the race but a delayed schedule and heavy rain made the final shot impossible. The car was utilizing 98mm titanium Precision Turbochargers at 2565 pounds but the next time the car hits the track will be in competition during the opening of Drag Illustrated’ s three-race, eightycar burndown known as the World Series of Pro Modified. Stevens plans to add 120 pounds to make the required minimum weight and install the maximum size 88 mm Precision Turbos to race in legal trim at Bradenton during the Winter Series. However, Stevens stated they will return to outlaw configuration after the first race and use Victor Alvarez’ s raceplant to shoot for even more quarter-mile records.
LAFERRIERE MAKES MORE HISTORY ON RADIAL TIRES!
Rhode Islander Eric LaFerriere has held both ends of the eighth-mile records in John Sears’ X275 Eliminator for several seasons in the seat of the“ White Rice” 1997 Nissan 240SX coupe of Houstonian Duy Bui. At Maryland International Raceway’ s recent HalTech World Cup Finals, LaFerriere gained more laurels as the team continues a massive expansion which may change the structure of Drag Illustrated’ s million-dollar World Series of Pro Modified.

MoTec ECU, a Mark Micke Turbo 400 automatic transmission and nitrous oxide injection from Nitrous Outlet to clock a best of 4.03 / 185.15. Under less restrictive rules at both the HalTech World Finals and the Summit TX2K25 showdown at the Texas Motorplex, LaFerriere clocked a quarter-mile best of 6.081-second, 235.57 mph which including a stunning 4.006 / 188.86 eighth-mile.
At the 2025 HalTech World Cup, LaFerriere and Dui,( pronounced“ Dewey”), again reset the all-time record for a radial-shod import at 6.034 seconds and 238.34 mph with a staggering three-second eighth-mile at 3.974 / 189.76. All this came on radial tires at a vehicle weight of 2830 pounds!
However, that was only a taste of their success at the World Cup. Unknown to many people was the fact Dui purchased fellow Texan Todd Moyer’ s notorious record-holding Camaro which owned Outlaw eighth-mile( 3.45 / 233) and quarter-mile( 5.14) records. The plan was to rebody the ex-Carl Stevens XRE-prepped Camaro and add another Toyota 2JZ 190-inch inline six-cylinder using a 111mm Precision Turbo with Nitrous Outlet assist and a Liberty six-speed transmission with a QuickDrive converter drive. The objective was an attempt on Jose Melendez’ s six-cylinder quarter-mile records of 5.54 / 264.49 and the eighth-mile marks of 3.67 and 210.21 mph held by Melendez and Arnaldo Santiago, respectively.
The team debuted the new Justin Dover-painted white 2020 Lexus LC500 under the name“ Sake Bomb” at the World Cup Finals and immediately dropped jaws. On only its third pass, the new monster clocked a 5.647 at 261.57 mph,( 3.75 / 205.32 eighth), to lead the qualified field for the event’ s fastest class.
